Quality Implementation with NFCA.
Automotive Prototype At the request of our client, NFCA developed sand cast prototypes of a component used in commercial trucks. This component—an oil pan—went into production using another process and supplier. In the field, the engines had issues. To address the problem, our customer needed to increase oil capacity in the pan. Unfortunately, to make this change using a permanent tool would take as long as 12 weeks.
Decreased supply timeNFCA revised our existing prototype tool and submitted samples of a larger capacity pan--in one week. The design was approved by the end user and NFCA immediately began production with the modified tool AND built two additional tools for the client.
We added a second shift and began providing 400 parts per week for 8 weeks until the production source could get back on line with a modified permanent tool. This allowed the end user an immediate fix for a field issue and minimized their exposure in the field.
We didn’t just save the day or a few dollars for our customer. We saved their reputation.
